Jimmy Kimmel Live: Best In Show
Jimmy Kimmel Live reflected on the Marco Rubio water bottle moment, Westminster Best in Show winner Banana Joe, and the Mile High Club.
Jimmy Kimmel: Ash Wednesday
February 13 marked Ash Wednesday 2013, the beginning of Lent and “the day on which Catholics go to work and hear the words, ‘Hey, you have a little something on your forehead,’” Kimmel said.
Are you giving anything up for Lent? Jimmy said that his mother used to make him pick something, but he has not carried on the tradition as an adult. He said he used to try to give up things he hated, like radishes.
Jimmy Kimmel Live: President Obama Fist Bump
At the State of the Union address, the president of course said “the state of the union is strong.” Kimmel wondered whether even Lincoln said that back in his day.
Was there any bipartisanship at the speech? The president did an exploding fist bump with Republican senator Mark Kirk. What do you think Obama is saying as he greets the guests? According to doctored audio on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he tells everyone he is going to make a speech.
Jimmy Kimmel: State of the Union
Kimmel handed two copies of his speech to the vice president and the speaker of the house. But he joked that the president slipped a copy of the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition into Boehner’s envelope as a goodwill gesture.
Jimmy Kimmel: Marco Rubio Water Bottle
Of course, then came the rebuttal from Florida’s Marco Rubio, whose speech claimed that an upper class was necessary to sustain the existence of the middle class, “just like you need biggie fries to have regular size fries,” Kimmel said as an analogy. “Technically, you need poor people too, although he did not point that out.”
It was a big night for Poland Spring, who had a cameo in Rubio’s speech as the brand of water bottle the senator infamously sipped from during his remarks. Jimmy hoped that was not intentional product placement and wondered why the bottle was so far out of reach. Those are all good questions.
Kimmel also remarked on Rubio’s “perfectly hydrated smile,” which he used to close out the speech.
Jimmy Kimmel Live: Banana Joe Best In Show
The 137th Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show concluded this week and named a new winner. A black affenpinscher named Banana Joe won the title of Best in Show. This dog breed is apparently a well-kept secret, and Banana Joe came out on top of seven finalists for the prize.
Jimmy Kimmel: Valentine’s Day YouTube
Valentine’s Day is upon us, and it is not too late to pick up a thoughtless last minute gift at a drugstore during your commute. Alternatively, you could participate in Jimmy Kimmel’s Valentine’s Day YouTube Challenge, which should garner hilarious results in a future episode.
Jimmy Kimmel Live: Mile High Club
A survey of international flight crew members asked which country has travelers who are most likely to join the Mile High Club. The answer was Great Britain, followed by Australia, Germany, France and Brazil.
America placed near the bottom, which could be because of the dire conditions on our planes and those small, uncomfortable bathrooms.
Jimmy Kimmel Pedestrian Question: Mile High Club
Have you ever been intimate on an airplane? That was the question Jimmy Kimmel posed to people on the street, giving his studio audience a chance to guess their answers.
- Spencer from San Diego – the audience guessed no, and they were correct
- Ricki from Lake Elsinore – the audience guessed yes, but she has never been on a plane at all
- Rene from Holland – the guess was yes, and the audience was right
- Gabrielle from San Diego – guess was yes, and after a little waffling, she admitted they were right
- Rae from LA – the audience mostly guessed no, but she did take racy photos in a plane bathroom
- A man from New Jersey – the audience was mixed, but the answer was “I have, and I wish I could do it again”
- A Texas couple – the audience could not decide. The answer? “No, but we tried.”
