January’s other huge story was the Manti Te’O girlfriend hoax, and Dr Phil had the interview with Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, the man behind the scam. Kimmel suggested that Ronaiah could soon turn up on The Apprentice.
Dr Phil pressed the scammer about whether it was his voice in the messages that the fake girlfriend left. However, a New York Post story suggested that his cousin Tina was the woman on the tapes.
Jimmy Kimmel: Ronaiah Tuiasosopo
Dr Phil had FBI voice analysts check the tapes, and experts concluded that it was virtually impossible that Ronaiah was the voice on the tapes. But Tuiasosopo refused to get into the voice.
“Can you imagine if Dr Phil was your actual doctor?” Jimmy pondered. That would be an awkward practice, I bet.
Jimmy Kimmel Live: Katie Couric Guillermo Interview
Jimmy suggested that his guest, Katie Couric, could land another big confessional interview with Guillermo from Kimmel’s show. I guess he is supposed to be the security guard. I always wondered what his role was.
In the clip from the interview, Guillermo admitted that he was tricked by a chihuahua that was not purebred. That sounds like a hot exclusive for Couric.
Jimmy Kimmel: This Week In Censorship
Then it was on to a look back at some January highlights from the show’s popular recurring segment This Week In Unnecessary Censorship.
The targets of the night included Charlie Rose, The Bachelor Sean Lowe, Tiger Woods, and many more. They sure do love to bleep Spongebob Squarepants.
Who can pass up an opportunity to bleep Pat Robertson? Steve Harvey was a target as well.
