Good Morning America: Sonogram Party

GMA: Baby Shower Viewing Party

Good Morning America shared the new trend of a sonogram party to reveal baby’s gender and share the joy of pregnancy. What does a sonogram party cost?

GMA: Sonogram Party Cost
Ultrasound technician Lisa Dixon said she charges about $500 for this type of sonogram party service, which is for “entertainment purposes only. So I do absolutely no diagnosting,” she said.
Is it a fun idea or bad news to have your baby’s gender revealed at a party? At least the Smith family knew in advance what the gender would be.
Good Morning America: Ultrasound Pregnancy Health Risk?
Meanwhile, ABC News senior medical contributor Dr Jennifer Ashton is among the critics of this new trend. “Just because it’s safe doesn’t mean it should be done excessively or without proper medical indications,” she said.
Lisa Dixon said there is no proven risk associated with a third or fourth ultrasound. I’m still not convinced. What is the etiquette for declining an ultrasound party invitation? Do you still have to send a gift?
