GMA: Sharknado Takes The World By Storm
Sharknado has taken the world by storm as its newest cult classic. If a title like Sharknado makes it sound like the movie is about a tornado that throws sharks everywhere, that’s because this movie is about a tornado that is throwing sharks everywhere.
One of the movie’s writers, Thunder Levin, said that the idea is one of the most ridiculous he has ever heard of, but was glad that he did it. Cassie Scerbo, one of Sharknado‘s stars, said that she just did the movie because it was fun, and was glad to hear that America is laughing with her and the rest of the people responsible for the movie.
Good Morning America: Sharknado Twitter Response
When Sharknado debuted last week on the SyFy channel, it set off a whirlwind (see what I did there?) of snarky responses on Twitter and other social media sites. Twitter saw an astounding 5,000 tweets a minute being made about the movie—even from celebrities like B.J. Novak and Seth Meyers. Thunder Levin said that it seems there are more people talking about the movie than have seen it, citing a new frontier of media and entertainment merging.
GMA: Sharknado Sequel?
With Sharknado being the massive success that it has been, Thunder Levin has already fielded plenty of requests and questions concerning a sequel. Some of his favorite suggestions were titles such as Hippocane and Snailquake—the second title being suggested because the quake would be slow-moving enough to allow for character development.
Will Sharknado remain popular enough to warrant a sequel, or will it prove to be just another pop-culture sideshow that has its 15 minutes before fading into obscurity? Only time will tell.
