Good Morning America: On the Show
Can a meatless burger compare with a classic, all beef burger? One company claims they’ve made the right product. Robin Roberts joined Dr. Oz to watch a woman undergoing heart surgery. Plus, who won the latest round of the 2014 Good Morning America Cup?
GMA: Where’s the Beef?
Americans love beef patties, but the company Beyond Meat has released the Beast Burger, which contains no meat, and they’re claiming the product will rival the all beef patty. The Beast Burger is completely plant based, and packed with nutrients. A 4 oz. serving of the Beast Burger has 24 grams of protein, more iron than a 4 oz. serving of beef, more omega than a 4 oz. of salmon, more calcium than an 8 oz. glass of milk, and is packed with antioxidants and vitamins B6, B12, C, D, and E.
But how does it taste? The cast of Good Morning America tried the Beast Burger live on the show, and they said it’s actually pretty good. The Beast Burger is made with yellow peas and mustard seeds, and of course packed with nutrients and vitamins.
Good Morning America: New York Med
Robin Roberts accompanied Dr. Oz as he performed heart surgery at New York Presbyterian Hospital. The show New York Med shows what really happens in hospitals.
The patient undergoing surgery, Marlene Stoutenburg, said she had faith in Dr. Oz that he would be able to replace her aortic valve and perform a double bypass. Her daughter, however, was much more nervous. Robin Roberts changed into scrubs, and was very interested to see surgery from the surgeon’s view. Marlene Stoutenburg’s heart was stopped for an hour and 15 minutes during surgery. After five hours of surgery, Marlene Stoutenburg had two bypasses, and her valve was replaced with a pig valve. Robin Roberts said, “I will never forget what I just saw. Never.” She said it was amazing to see Marlene Stoutenburg’s heart start beating again. Marlene Stoutenburg is now doing well and recovering from surgery.
GMA: 2014 GMA Cup
Sara Haines and Ginger Zee were looking to redeem themselves from their loss to Amy Robach and Laura Spencer in the last round of the 2014 GMA Cup. Dan Abrams subbed for Lara Spencer, and the teams competed in a game of scooter soccer. Both teams scored three points. I guess Sara Haines and Ginger Zee will have to try and beat the other team in the next round!
