Diane Keaton and Michael Douglas play next-door neighbors with nothing in common, which sets up for a fun romantic comedy. Robin Roberts said she was shocked Diane Keaton and Michael Douglas had never worked together before. A clip from the film was played, and immediately after it was done, Diane Keaton said she’s not someone who likes to watch herself on the screen.

Diane Keaton’s character in And So It Goes is a wannabe lounge singer, and she tries really hard to achieve that dream. She said there’s a point in the film when her character is sitting on a bar stool introducing “The Shadow of Your Smile” and says, “Sometimes life outlives love, but still to be singing a song and dreaming of love is worth it.” Diane Keaton said she believes that line is really true, and that it’s a beautiful thing. She said you can’t hold on to life, but you can enjoy exactly where you are. The movie is about second chances, and she loves that.
GMA: Young Dreams & Young Michael Douglas
Diane Keaton said she had dreams of being a night singer when she was a child, but she ended up becoming an actress, so it was fun to play this side of her personality.
Diane Keaton brought a young photo of Michael Douglas because she wants people to see the sweet side of him. She said there’s a scene in the movie where Michael Douglas’s character breaks down and cries, and that you truly see the young innocent side of him in that scene. Robin Roberts told Diane Keaton that Michael Douglas said she’s a good kisser, and better than Matt Damon.
