Good Morning America: Oprah Winfrey Interview
It has been nearly a year and a half since The Oprah Winfrey Show went off the air. But that has hardly stopped the enterprising 58-year-old from moving forward with her career. She said she is proud of her network and feels blessed to have her own platform to change people’s lives.
Oprah said it was hard building the network from the ground up, saying there were days early on when she kept saying to herself, “what are you doing?” She thought it would have been easier to run a network (“go in when you want, watch the empire grow”), but she quickly realized the growth of the network is directly proportional to the amount of work she puts in. And she has must have been working really hard, because the network has shown a lot of growth in the past few months.

Oprah’s Life Class, the show she says is the anchor for the network, has a very simple notion. It teaches people how to lead better lives. Joel Osteen recently tweeted, “whatever follows I am will come looking for you.” Oprah said it was such an inspirational tweet, she has invited Osteen on the show for two special episodes to elaborate on his tweet.
Good Morning America: The Butler Movie
Along with running a network, Oprah dove back into acting with her role in The Butler. Oprah plays the wife of Forrest Whittaker’s character in the movie, Eugene Hall, the butler who served in the White House through eight presidencies. The screenplay for the film comes from a Washington Post article about Hall.
Oprah said she enjoys acting in films, but her real goal is to perform on Broadway one day.
Good Morning America: Twitterpiece Theater
To help Oprah realize her dream of performing on Broadway, Good Morning America took a bunch of Oprah’s tweets, from her more than 14 million followers, and made a play out of them. They even recruited Joy Behar to help with the acting.
The segment was a little bit of a disaster though. No one really knew the lines but it was fun anyway. The story basically followed the plot line of Oprah Winfrey going to a Justin Bieber concert, going to a walk, seeing baby alligators and getting married to Deepak Chopra: Oprah Chopra.
