One woman said she will spend between $150 and $300 on a pair of jeans and she said she has hundreds of jeans. Another shopper drained his parents’ savings because of shopping and another, Sarah, went dumpster diving.
Sarah said the dumpster diving was not her low point, it was a high for her. She loves shopping so much it gives her adrenaline and she even seemed to be getting excited just talking about dumpster diving.
Dr. Raman Durvasula, a clinical psychologist, said people with shopping addictions oftentimes have financial problems or relationship problems and the shopping takes up much of their time. She tries to help the women overcome their addictions by making them donate many of their goods and spend a significantly less amount of time buying things.

Good Morning America: Marissa Jaret Winokur Weight Loss
Marissa Jaret Winokur, the Broadway star who won a Tony for her performance in Hairspray at the age of 27, has recently lost 60 pounds. She said she has been struggling to lose weight her entire life, not dropping a single pound when she was competing on Dancing With the Stars a few seasons ago. She said she thinks she even got booted from hosting Dance Your Ass Off because of her weight.
But Winokur was able to show her critics by losing a lot of weight the old fashioned way, by counting calories and working out. Winokur said she only takes in 1200 calories a day and makes sure she works out every day as well. She even brought her own food on the plane and to her hotel on New York.
She said she lost the weight because of health reasons and she is now doing everything she can to keep the weight off, knowing it is more a lifestyle change than anything else.
