GMA: 5 Alarm Firefighters Contest
The McAllen Fire Department from McAllen, Texas won the Wednesday round of the 5 Alarm Firefighters Contest and is coming to Good Morning America soon to compete against the other finalists. First, viewers must vote for in the next semi-finals round. The Las Vegas Fire and Rescue is going up against the Tacoma Fire Department. You can vote for your favorite, and see if they make it to the final round.

Justin Theroux was on Good Morning America to talk about his new HBO show The Leftovers. Justin Theroux is the screenwriter and an actor in the show. He plays a police chief in a town that’s dealing with the aftermath of 2% of the world’s population mysteriously disappearing. The show picks up three years after the event, and Robin Roberts said it’s heavy, but you can’t turn away.
Two years ago on Justin Theroux’s birthday, he popped the question to Jennifer Aniston, and Robin Roberts asked if there are any other surprises coming for his upcoming birthday. Justin Theroux said it’ll probably just be a cake birthday. He’s always been fashion forward, and he loves skinny jeans, but he pointed out that they used to be called peg jeans.
When Justin was a kid, Gavin MacLeod accidentally knocked him over in an airport, and then picked him back up. Justin Theroux jokingly said, “That’s altered everything.”
GMA: 2014 Primetime Emmy Nominations
Good Morning America streamed the Emmy nomination announcements, and Chris Connelly was there to talk about the nominations. He was shocked that The Good Wife didn’t get a nomination for best drama series. He thinks True Detective made the right decision by going for the drama category instead of the miniseries category. Silicon Valley getting nominated for best comedy series instead of Brooklyn 99 was a surprise for him as well.
Chris Connelly was very surprised that Tatiana Maslany didn’t get nominated for best actress in a drama series for Orphan Black. He was surprised at Lizzie Caplan’s nomination, and surprised that Elizabeth Moss got nothing. Game of Thrones got a ton of nominations, but Connelly is skeptical about the show winning anything.
Is there a clear favorite in outstanding comedy? Chris Connelly said Modern Family.
Bryan Cranston was nominated once again for Breaking Bad, but he hasn’t won since 2010, and Chris Connelly thinks Matthew McConaughey stands a good chance of winning. Connelly said his role in True Detective may have helped Matthew McConaughey win his Oscar. The category for best actor in a drama series is pretty solid all around.
Chris Connelly said he thinks True Detective is throwing down the gauntlet by competing in drama instead of miniseries, which is bad news for Breaking Bad, but good news for American Horror Story: Coven and Fargo.
