According to hotel expert Jacob Tomsky, valets are transient and probably don’t care about your car. But that’s not the only unsavory behavior taking place behind the scenes.

Good Morning America talked with hotel expert Jacob Tomsky about his memoir and hotel expose, Heads In Beds and what goes on behind the scenes at a hotel.
Tomsky’s memoir, Heads In Beds, is blowing the lid off some industry secrets. He said that hotel staff have many options to get back at guests for various indiscretions. But he was quick to note that the hotel maids aren’t typically stealing your stuff.
In a hidden camera video, however, some guests busted a hotel employee stealing cash from their room safe. What about the hotel bathroom? Don’t ever touch those glasses in the bathroom sink. They might have been cleaned with Pledge or another industrial cleaner.

Jacob Tomsky was in the studio to share more about housekeeping practices. Those glasses might even be cleaned with shampoo. He said that a decade in the industry gave him more than enough fodder for a book, Heads In Beds.
Who should you tip at a hotel? Jacob said that guets should be generous, especially when it comes to the front desk. At the very least, be polite to your front desk person.

How has the hotel industry reacted to the book? He said he tried to paint hotels in a positive light and explain their point of view on the industry. But the jury is still out on the corporate reaction to his hot title.
