GMA: Billy Ray Cyrus New Memoir Hillbilly Heart
Billy Ray Cyrus came by Good Morning America to talk about his new memoir Hillbilly Heart, opening up about his career and his famous daughter. He said that he was at a crossroads in his life and he thought it was a good time to look back and see where he’s been to get better perspective about where to go next. He said he thought people would be drawn to the book’s honesty. In 1992, Johnny Cash wrote him a letter which is how the book begins. He said after that, he also quotes from the book of Psalms in the Bible.
GMA: Billy Ray Cyrus Most Embarrassing Thing
Amy Robach asked him what the most embarrassing thing was that he wrote about in the book.
“Did you have to ask me that?” he asked.
“Of course I did,” Amy Robach said.
Billy Ray Cyrus said that he stole his mother a 3D picture of Jesus Christ one time. He said that it’s always haunted him and he still prays for forgiveness. Amy Robach asked him what it was that people don’t know about him. He said that whatever they don’t know, they’ll find out when they read the book.
GMA: Billy Ray Cyrus Hannah Montana
Two years ago, Billy Ray Cyrus said that Hannah Montana “destroyed” his family. Amy Robach asked him if he regretted making that statement. He said that he regretted doing the interview when he was hurt and angry. He said that he didn’t mean that and he loved the show, his daughter Miley and his friends.
“I’m not mad at anybody, I’m very, very thankful for this life that God has blessed me with,” he said.
GMA: Billy Ray Cyrus Boston Marathon Bombings and West Texas Dedication
In honor of the victims of the Boston Marathon Bombings and the victims of the West Texas fertilizer explosion, Billy Ray Cyrus performed “America the Beautiful.” He had a guitar in his lap the entire interview and the performance was striking by how simple and soft it was. It was a nice moment on GMA.
“Our thoughts and prayers to all the folks in Boston and Texas. God bless our country. We’re going to stand back up and stand tall,” Billy Ray Cyrus said when he finished playing.
