Good Morning America: 9-Year-Old’s Weight Loss
Fifth grader Breanna Bond weighed about 200 pounds. But over the last year, she has changed her life and lost a stunning amount of weight. At age nine, she weighed 186 pounds, was bullied, and had trouble getting around.
In kindergarten, she already weighed 100 pounds and had trouble keeping up with her peers. Finally, Breanna’s mother created an exercise plan for her, getting the whole family in on the healthy changes.

Pretty quickly, she lost over 60 pounds. Her diet limits fat intake to 20 grams per day, and she also spends an hour and 15 minutes on the treadmill. She’s now playing basketball and has joined the swim team. That’s really awesome.
Her mother said she is an inspiration to kids everywhere who are struggling with weight. Mom is inspired by her daughter, who she says has changed the course of her life. Breanna showed off her weight loss on Good Morning America with George Stephanopolous.
Good Morning America: Bond Family Weight Loss Diet
Breanna lost a total of 66 pounds, and she does look like she is in great shape. Her parents were on hand too. Mom Heidi said that Breanna runs 25 minutes out of her hour and 15 minutes on the treadmill.
Heidi said the whole family has limited the fat and sugar intake for their diets. Dan admitted there were challenges, and Breanna was sometimes stubborn. They had to show her tough love and enforce the rules for her health.

She said walking was the hardest part in the beginning. They started together as a family, in spite of fog, rain, or other excuses. Her mother said that Breanna had a slow metabolism, and after getting her thyroid and other health issues checked out, the parents knew they had to make some changes.
Breanna said she’s happy now that she can be a part of sports teams and keep up with her peers. “Start as soon as possible: exercise, healthy eating habits,” mother Heidi said. Her father, Dan, said parents shouldn’t be afraid to dish out tough love.
I think what’s great about this story is that the family worked together, instilled good habits, and didn’t cheat or take the easy way out.
