Good Morning America: Brooke’s Mom Confidential
Good Morning America guest host Brooke Shields hit the streets for “Brooke’s Mom Confidential” to get women’s opinions on hot issues that are all over the “mommy blogs.”
GMA: Should Moms Let Kids Drink Soda?
The first question she asked was, “should moms let kids drink soda?” Brooke said that she has lots of problems with giving kids soda, and the first mom she talked to agreed with her. Another mom said that she lets her kids have it as a treat, and if she didn’t let them have it once in awhile they would probably want it more.
The next question was, “should moms invest in high-end fashion for kids?” The first mother she talked to said that kids grow so fast, and when you’re working hard for a living you really have to pinch your pennies. She said they can have style, but they need to be easy to wash. The next mother said that it’s totally different with the girls than it is with the boys.
Brooke asked moms, “should moms drink at birthday parties or play dates ” All of the moms that she talked to agreed that it’s a no-no because kids could accidentally drink it.
GMA: Should Moms Let Kids Have Facebook?
The actress wanted to know if moms should let their kids be on Facebook or not. The first mom said that she has a page, and her child was allowed to have one in eighth grade but all the messages and friend requests go to the mom’s phone. Another mom said that she doesn’t have a page and she’s a little leery about letting her kids have one, but in moderation she thinks it’s fine.
Brooke sat down with GMA’s Amy Robach to discuss her findings. Rock band KISS, who was set to go on soon, pelted Robach and Shields with guitar picks. Robach and Shields both have daughters that are nine and six.
Good Morning America: Parenting with Brooke Shields
Shields said that she has a hard time with sugary drinks because her daughters will go to a party or her mother-in-law’s and have Coke and be all excited. She said there is no soda in her refrigerator, and she only lets her girls have it if they’re at a baseball game. Her husband will sometimes sneak them and she makes him keep them in a different section of the fridge.
Shields said that she doesn’t have a Facebook and neither do her daughters, and it’s not them that she’s worried about but everyone else. She worries about the security and the bullying that can happen on Facebook and the internet in general. Brooke said that the answers she got from moms didn’t surprise her. She said that all moms work hard to keep their kids innocent.
Good Morning America: Brooke Shields on The Middle
She will guest star on the show The Middle soon as a character that is a little rougher than her normal persona. Shields said she plays a beer drinking neighbor that isn’t the epitome of a quality mom. She said her kid wears cowboy boots and a diaper and she drinks beer and smokes cigarettes around the child.
Robach put Shields in the GMA Hot Seat for a few fun questions:
- Stage or Screen? Stage
- Best Vacation Destination – Snow or Sand? Sand
- Texting or Calling? Calling
- Daughters – Girly Girls or Tomboys? One of each
- Guilty Pleasure? Duvel beer
