On March 19 2013, Ellen aired an episode with Keith Urban and the Today Show‘s Savannah Guthrie. Ellen started a contest in honor of her birthday and asked fans to send in a bust of Ellen. She had hilarious texting autocorrects and gave an audience member a trip to Australia.
Ellen: Facebook Fan Photos and Tweets & Ellen’s Birthday Bust Contest
Ellen shared hilarious Facebook photos from her fans. Some fans got sunburned in awkward places and others had photos of themselves with Ellen. Each of the photos shown earned their owners a Canon Elph camera. In the Tweetly Weekly roundup, Ellen read hysterical tweets from the week. “Worried cause I heard a beep and didn’t know if it was my cell, iPod, Wii, Skype, Facebook, email, Twitter or TV but it was just my fire alarm.”
She asked fans to send in busts of Ellen made out of anything but duct tape. One viewer had already sent in a purse made of duct tape in the shape of Ellen’s head! Ellen finished up with some hilarious texting autocorrects. While one person meant to say “peanut butter sandwich,” their phone is hankering for something a little more R-rated.
Ellen: Keith Urban Throat Surgery For Polyp & Golden Globe Nomination
Keith Urban told Ellen about the new season of American Idol. He had to take a break from talking for a few weeks when he had a polyp in his throat removed. The Aussie singer is recovered and singing again. He reminisced about the time he and Ellen made a cologne commercial.
Ellen: Savannah Guthrie Scared Of Frogs & Drinking On The Today Show
Savannah Guthrie is a host on The Today Show. She and Ellen talked about her cripling fear of frogs and then she got chased around the set by a fake frog. Savannah told Ellen that she loves working with Kathie Lee & Hoda, drinking and covering concerts every week. It’s much more lax than her last job as White House Correspondent.
Ellen: ‘Do You See What Aussie?’ Audience Game To Win Australia Trip
Ellen played “Do You See What Aussie?” and gave an audience member tickets to Australia. Only one contestant could win, but the other one went home with a pretty great consolation prize.
