Ellen: Flu Season
Ellen said she likes to live her life with a lot of positive energy and she likes to see the good in everything, even during flu season. She said one person told her flu season started and she said at least that means bikini season is over with. She is always finding the positive. And why does the flu have its own season? It isn’t like we say, “It’s July. Time for pinkeye season.”

Ellen talks about flu season starting, making sure to go home when you are sick to help her ratings & takes a look at some funny viewers submitted photos.
Ellen said it is also really easy to get a flu shot. You can get them anywhere, even at the mall. Ellen said the piercing lady at Claire’s is probably giving out flu shots. Ellen said she is going to start doing them in the Riff Raff room at the studio. It’s cheaper than cleaning the carpets.
Ellen DeGeneres Fear of Needles
Ellen also said she made everyone she works with get a flu shot so she wouldn’t have too. You know what is in a flu shot? The flu. And do you know what are in needles? Needles. Ellen doesn’t like either of those things.
But she doesn’t get sick too often either. She was Christian Science, which meant she never went to the doctor or used medicine for religious reasons. And she has only been sick one time when she was five years old. She got better around 17. And she hasn’t been sick since because she works out, eats healthy and she hasn’t touched a door handle in 25 years.
Ellen: Sick Coworkers
Some people just come to work sick all the time, no matter what. Ellen said you will see a person with an IV in their arm and they are saying they aren’t sick.
Ellen said she has a coworker like that named Betsy. Betsy is always sick, wrapped in a blanket all the time and she never calls off. But everyone else has called off work sick 470 times. Ellen didn’t feel bad about talking about Betsy on the air because she couldn’t hear anyway with the ear infection and inside the iron lung.
Ellen: East Coast Hit Hard Again
Ellen talked about the East Coast getting pummeled by another storm, this time leaving a few inches of snow on the ground in some places. Ellen said it is breaking her heart watching the news.
She said she knows what it is like after seeing what happened with Katrina. Ellen said if you would like to contribute to the relief effort you can visit the Ellen website to donate. See said Time Warner has donated $1 million to the relief.

Ellen took a look at some really funny viewer submitted photos. Most seemed to have to do with positioning the camera at just the right angle to get a funny shot, while one was of a child in New Zealand who accidentally sat in front of a few giraffes doing the deed, as they say.
