Ellen: Jason Aldean Old Boots, New Dirt
Jason Aldean came by Ellen to perform his song “Burnin’ It Down“. In the last few years, Jason Aldean has gone from playing small theaters to selling out football stadiums.
Jason Aldean just got engaged and Ellen congratulated him on it and on his success. Jason’s new album is called Old Boots, New Dirt.
Ellen: Jason Aldean “Burnin’ It Down” Performance
Lyrically, Jason Aldean’s new song “Burnin’ It Down” has everything Jason Aldean succeeds at: romanticized references to alcohol, yearning for love, and the glorification of the moment. It’s the kind of song that makes you ache for late summer fires with girls you barely know, who you want to get to know better, with maybe an acoustic guitar and some ice cold whiskey.
Just the two of you and a beautiful night, talking and playing music until late in the night. It’s not the anthem that “My Kinda Party” was and it’s not as interesting as “Dirt Road Anthem“, but it’s definitely in the ballpark and it’s Jason Aldean “just doing his thing” and loving every moment of it.
Ellen: Who’s In My Bushes?
Later on, Ellen played a game at the end of her show called Who’s In My Bushes? Ellen said there was a celebrity hidden in Ellen’s bushes for the entire hour. She asked him a series of questions to determine his identity. When she asked if he acts, sings, or plays an instrument, he said all three. When she asked if he’d been in her bushes before, he said, “First time, dear.”
When she asked if he has a highly anticipated movie opening next Friday, he said yes. For Junior Mints or Jujubes, he said Junior Mints. That was when Ellen said she knew who he was. It was Robert Downey, Jr. His new movie The Judge opens October 10. Ellen said he should come back and see her. Robert said he’d be waiting in the bushes.
