Ellen: Ridiculous Excuses to Get Out of Work & Epic or Fail

Ellen: Epic or Fail

Ellen kicked off her show today by talking about how it’s darker than usual outside now that Daylight Saving Time is over. She said that makes her show a “late night show,” which means it was time to get racier.

For Ellen, this apparently means talking about the cat videos she watched with her extra hour. These videos put her in the mood to play one of her favorite games, Epic or Fail, where she and her audience watch a small video clip and guess whether what’s about to happen will be epic or a failure.

The first one involved a bride throwing a bouquet behind her and the bouquet falling into a pond. One of the women dove in after it. Ellen called this an “epic fail.”

“Wow, she really wanted to get married next,” Ellen joked.

Another clip showed a groom running with his bride in his arms. He ended up tripping and falling on his bride. Luckily, the Best Man ran over and helped him and the bride get back up again.

Ellen TV: Ridiculous Excuses to Get Out of Work

Ellen read some actual excuses people used to get out of work. They included some pretty hilarious ones, like:

  • “I’m in a good mood and I don’t want to ruin it.”
  • “I accidentally got on a plane.”
  • “I just put a casserole in the oven.”
  • “I had a ‘lucky night’ and didn’t know where I was.”
  • “I got stuck in the blood pressure machine at the grocery store and couldn’t get out.”

Ellen’s Audience’s Excuses to Get Out of Work

These excuses gave Ellen an idea. She decided to poll her audience to see what excuses they gave to their bosses to be on her show today. One man told his boss he “needed a day to figure out world peace.” He told Ellen he was still working on it. Another woman said she had really bad cramps, but then Ellen showed a video of the same woman dancing.

Still another woman told her boss she had jury duty, but she really did have jury duty, so she told the court she had the flu so she wouldn’t miss Ellen. Ellen said she shouldn’t worry because they’re going to blur her face out. But then Ellen told her she actually wasn’t going to blur her face out.

“If I read your excuse today, you’re gonna get an application to Taco Bell, because you all need jobs,” Ellen joked. They also all got a TCL Roku TV.
