Ellen: Mother’s Day & Awesome Audience Dancer
Ellen kicked off her show today by talking about Mother’s Day and how no one got her anything. Not even her pets! But she did get a little love from Clay, a dancer in the audience who had some incredible dance moves.
Ellen: Know Or Go Game
Since it was just Mother’s Day, Ellen decided to play the “mother of all games,” Know Or Go Game, where three contestants played a trivia game. If they got the answer wrong, they had to fall down a trapdoor. The first question was which day does Mother’s Day? The answer was Sunday, of course! Another contestant had to name their mother, and another had to answer the math question, “What’s 2 plus 2 plus 10 divided by 7?” 14, of course. But then the questions got harder. One contestant had to name five types of furniture in five seconds. She said, “Couch, chair, table, refrigerator and lamp.”
Ellen responded by saying, “Okay, when you sit in your refrigerator, do you…is it like on a hot day?” The next contestant had to name the talk show that Chelsea Handler was the host of. The answer, of course, is Chelsea Lately. She answered with “David Letterman’s show,” which couldn’t have been more wrong, and fell to her doom in a trapdoor. The next question was “Name six other planets in our solar system.” She said, “Pluto, Venus, Jupiter, Saturn, and Uranus.”
Then the next contestant had to name two songs Prince sings. She said “Purple Rain” and then snapped a lot. Then she dropped down the trapdoor. Finally, the last contestant left above the trapdoor had to answer which nut Jimmy Carter had to grow. This was the first question I had no answer for. She guessed pistachios. But that was wrong. Ellen never revealed the answer, so I can’t tell you what nut it was. But I thought it was peanuts. Each contestant got a 50 inch Insignia television.
Ellen: High Five For A 65 Contest
Ellen also unveiled her High Five For A 65 contest, where she will high five someone during the course of her show every day. If you spot it, you can enter for your chance to when a 65 inch Insignia television. All you have to do is go to her website and say who she high fived.
Ellen: Barbara Walters’ Last Project
Ellen wanted to recognize Barbara Walters for her years of service on the air. But she “found” some footage from The X-Factor with Barbara Walters. Ellen had added Barbara Walters’ image onto a crazy dancer. The footage was hilarious. Check it out:
Ellen: Complete The Beat
Then Ellen decided to play a new game called Complete The Beat, where people had to guess what song people were dancing to without hearing the song. Ellen said it might be a complete disaster, but she wanted to do it anyway. There were three possible answers. The first dancer did a weird crab impression while dancing. It turns out he was dancing to Jason Derulo’s song “Talk Dirty.” The next person was doing a weird wizard dance, waving around a wand into the air. He was dancing to 50 Cent’s “In Da Club.” Then there was a really talented dancer who was dancing to “Dark Horse.”
