Ellen: What’s In the Box?
Ellen kicked off her show today by announcing she wanted to play a game with the audience called What’s In The Box? It’s a game where Ellen went out into the audience to find contestants to choose a box from several boxes. The contestant received the contents of whichever box they chose.
The first woman, Adelle, picked box number two because she had two daughters. She won a painting of Ellen that was sent to Ellen from a fan. “I’m sure the person who painted that for me doesn’t mind that I give it away,” Ellen joked. Ellen also said that Adelle should be able to buy things to put near the painting so she decided to give her a $1500 American Express gift card.
The next woman was named Lizzie and she choose box number one. She received a home entertainment package that included a collection of Warner Bros. movies, an x-box, a blu-ray player, and a television.
Ellen: Sonny & Cher Prank
Another contestant was named Selma and she was a retired Post Office mail carrier. She had the choice of choosing what was behind a door or what was in Ellen’s pocket. She choose the door, despite all the people yelling that she should pick the pocket, including me yelling at the television from my living room. Behind the door was two bad Sonny and Cher impersonators singing “I Got You, Babe.” Selma thought she’d made a terrible decision until Ellen revealed she also won a $5,000 Target gift card.
Ellen: Hawaii Chair Prank
The final woman was named Janelle and she was self-employed. The box she chose had what Ellen called a “Hawaii chair.” Ellen asked Janelle if she knew what it was and Janelle didn’t, so Ellen walked her down to the chair and invited her to sit in it. The seat started spinning around wildly and Janelle had to hold on to make sure she didn’t fall. Then Ellen revealed that Janelle had also won a trip to Hawaii.
Ellen’s Favorite Dancers
Then Ellen shared her favorite dancers, who were two audience members that danced before the show. They were a woman in her 60s and a man in his 20s, and they really busted a move. Check it out:
Ellen: The Return Of DJ Tony
Then Ellen revealed that she had a new DJ: Tony Okungbowa, who Ellen always calls DJ Tony. Tony said he’d missed being on Ellen. Tony said he just made a movie with Mamie Gummer, Meryl Streep’s daughter, called Echo Park, which is going to be at the Los Angeles Film Festival. Tony said he’s grown a beard and he’s been acting in other projects as well. Ellen wondered if DJ Tony was single and he said yes. She asked why and he said it’s because he’s very busy.
Ellen: DJ Tony Prank
Ellen asked DJ Tony if he noticed all the changes they’d made around the Ellen set. One of the changes Ellen claimed happened was turning DJ Tony’s dressing room into a Pilates studio. And then, of course, there was the change to the DJ sound board. DJ Tony looked down to see what Ellen was talking about and that’s when a coiled fake snake was shot out of the DJ station, scaring DJ Tony half to death.
