Ellen’s 1900th Show
Today was Ellen’s 1900th show! Ellen said she thought her show had lasted this long because her show is getting better at what they do.
“It’s the same way that things are done at apple. They’re always improving, they’re stylish, and the person in charge is gay,” Ellen joked. “I couldn’t have that joke without Tim Cook, so thank you.”

Ellen kicked off the episode by looking through her memory box to share some of her favorite moments across time. At first, when she opened the memory box, big, epic music started to play, but it turned out this was just the cell phone ring she had on a very old brick phone from the early ’90s. It turned out her mom was calling. “Hi, mom. I can’t talk. I’m in the middle of a show,” she said.
Ellen TV: Interviewing a Monkey
The next item was a banana. It was in there because when she first started, it wasn’t easy to get guests to come on the show. So one of her first guests on her first episode was a monkey named Precious. That episode aired September 24, 2003. Precious wasn’t a very good guest. Precious drank Ellen’s water, jumped up and down on the seats, and kissed a picture of herself.
Ellen: Bruno Mars Prank
Ellen also had a stethoscope from a nurse who came to see Bruno Mars. The nurse didn’t know Ellen was telling Bruno what to say the whole time. She had Bruno introduce himself and then say, “Actually, when I’m not on stage, my name is Ramon.”
Bruno claimed he had a problem in her throat. When she asked if he was having any problems swallowing, he said he hadn’t swallowed since the Super Bowl. He also said this happened once before when he was in Canada and that it was a funny story, but he didn’t actually share the story. He also made several noises he claimed hurt him to make.
Ellen TV: Know or Go Contestant Gets All the Answers Wrong
Ellen looked back on the contestant with the most wrong answers on her game Know or Go, a contestant named Carla Cunningham. Carla was really bad at answering the questions. She didn’t know what actors played Edward and Jacob in the Twilight series, who Ellen’s wife was, or who Honey Boo Boo was.
