Ellen DeGeneres called Shaun White the best snowboarder in history, and now that another Olympics is behind him, he’s ready for his second act in music with the band Bad Things.

Ellen congratulated Shaun on his efforts at the Olympics, though he did come up short. It sounds like he still has an appreciation for the experience and the honor of being at the games. What will happen now that the Olympics are behind us?

DeGeneres wondered if Shaun White beat himself up after his loss. He said you can’t help questioning what the other outcomes could have been. But he is motivated to keep coming back and continue doing what he loves. “I’m still shaking it off,” he admitted. He said he is not used to losing, so that was a new experience for him.

Like most of us, Ellen had no idea that Shaun White was a musician. He said that he only got into playing music after winning a guitar at a snowboarding contest. His intention was to learn just one song, but that got him hooked.

Since he loves to practice, he would work hard to get better at this brand new skill. Before long, he made friends with other musicians. When he moved to Los Angeles, he found a lead singer and landed a Warner Bros. record deal in his garage.

“It’s the one thing in my life that’s truly collaborative,” White said, adding that he and his bandmates work together to come up with the songs.

He said he likes that he is not necessarily immediately recognizable, because the band can win audiences over with their music before name recognition sets in. White and the band travel together in a 15-passenger van for the experience.

White also shared pictures of his French bulldog, Steve, who is two years old. Since the dog enjoys wearing sunglasses, Ellen hooked Shaun up with a variety of colors.
