In just a few days, over 10 million people watched the viral video of flight attendant Marty Cobb giving the pre-flight instructions to the plane full of people. Why were so many people watching? Well, because she said things like this: “If I could pretend to have your attention for just a few moments, my ex-husband, my new boyfriend, and their divorce attorney are going to show you the safety features of this Boeing 737-800 series. It’s been a long day for me.” Ellen invited the flight attendant to come by her show to talk about the routine.

Ellen spoke to flight attendant Marty Cobb, whose pre-flight instruction comedy routine went viral recently.
The first thing Marty Cobb said was how much she respected and admired Ellen and she said she was very happy to be there. She said she’s been a flight attendant for seven and a half years. She was trained a certain way on how to say the pre-flight instructions, but after a while she put her own spin on it. “It’s so much more fun to make people laugh and let them relax. I know how stressful flying can be. It’s just to make it more fun and in my little tube in the sky, I can make a difference in people’s lives,” Marty Cobb said.
Ellen said that she thinks being a flight attendant is a thankless job because people are rude. She said she admired what Marty Cobb does and she thinks it’s great she tries to make their lives better.

Marty Cobb’s daughters were in the audience and Ellen asked them if they knew how cool their mom was. One of her daughters said she’d known how cool her mom was for a while, but that her mom really deserved the recognition and she was really glad she was on the show.

Ellen said because she knew that Marty Cobb was traveling a lot, she’d need some baggage. So Ellen got her a bag that had her face on it and a sign that said “Watch Ellen” on the front. Marty Cobb was already excited about the bag and told Ellen she really loved it and couldn’t wait to use it. But there was still many more gifts.

As if all of these gifts weren’t enough, Ellen also called Marty Cobb and her daughters onto the stage at the end of the show. Marty Cobb is raising three kids on her own and she’s always traveling because of her job. So Ellen and Shutterfly gave them $10,000 to help her out.
