Ellen: Chris O’Dowd The Sapphires
Chris O’Dowd became one of the most sought after men in Hollywood after played Rhodes in Bridesmaids. It was really overnight that his star power blew up. He’s always picking cool eclectic roles, Ellen said. Chris said he isn’t super comfortable with his newfound popularity with women. In fact, he finds women a little terrifying.
Chris recently married his girlfriend, a British documentary filmmaker. He said they met when he moved to L.A. and was trying to make friends. He friended her on Facebook and she kept denying his requests. She finally contacted him when she was worried about the number of people at her birthday party. What a love story.
The Sapphires is a film based on a play about four women that travel to Vietnam and sing for the troops. It’s a true story written by the son of one of the original Sapphires. Chris plays the girls’ manager. The film is in select theaters now and Ellen said it’s getting a lot of award buzz.
