Ellen: Chelsea Lately Ending & Chelsea Handler to CBS?
Chelsea Handler came on Ellen to talk about her new book Uganda Be Kidding Me and her show Chelsea Lately going off the air. Recently, Chelsea Handler posted a photo to Instagram of her and her dog. In her hands was a piece of paper bearing what looks like the CBS logo. So Ellen had to ask, was Chelsea talking to CBS? “I’m not,” Chelsea Handler said. “With my mouth? What would they do with me there? I would never be on a regular network. I would never do that to my fans, or to myself, or to the network.”

Chelsea said she likes swearing and that she’s a “bad girl” and who doesn’t want to be reeled in.
Chelsea Handler has done eight seasons of Chelsea Lately and now she thinks it’s time to move on. She said she wanted to take a vacation somewhere.
Ellen TV: Chelsea Handler Letterman & Stephan Colbert
She also compared the CBS Instagram photo for her with the rumors that Ellen was going to take over for Letterman. “They just throw your name around and you don’t even know what they’re saying,” Chelsea Handler said.
Ellen said she thought Stephen Colbert was a great choice for taking over for Letterman. Chelsea Handler said she thought Stephen Colbert’s fake persona is more respectable than her real persona.
Ellen: Chelsea Handler Comedy Central
Ellen said that since Stephen Colbert is leaving Comedy Central, there’s a spot that need to be filled. Would Chelsea Handler go there? “What is Comedy Central?” Chelsea Handler deadpanned.
Chelsea Handler said that, in all seriousness, she didn’t want to take a job someone else already did. She wants to do her own thing.
“I like to be a little bit of an underdog. I’m not for everybody and I know that and it’s okay. I like my life the way it is, a little smaller than everybody else’s. I get away with a lot of bad stuff and I like that,” Chelsea Handler said.
Ellen TV: Chelsea Handler Vacation
Chelsea Handler said she wanted to leave the country and meet men that will date her. “With the language barrier, I’ll have more luck in other countries,” Chelsea Handler said.
She said she wanted to go live in Spain for a month and learn Spanish. Ellen wondered what would happen to her dog on that trip. Chelsea Handler said he’ll come with her, but he’ll probably be quarantined. “They’ll probably have to quarantine me, too, so it’s not a big deal,” Chelsea Handler said.
She added that she had a lot of fun at E! over eight seasons. She said she had no idea what she wanted to do next.
Ellen: Chelsea Handler Uganda Be Kidding Me
Chelsea’s new book, Uganda Be Kidding Me, is about her safari in Africa. Why Africa? “I wanted to find out where rappers come from,” Chelsea Handler said. Upon saying this, there was a very mixed reaction in the audience. Ellen seemed pretty stunned by it, too. Then slowly, the audience started clapping and laughing. Chelsea Handler said she came back with an entire photo album.
Handler also said it was one of the most transformative trips she’d ever been on. The book also focuses on Chelsea trying to sleep with her guide. Handler said that whenever she goes on a trip, she ends up writing a book, so everyone she went with knew that and that if they weren’t on their best behavior, they’d end up in the book. It’s a fair exchange, because Chelsea Handler said she paid for the flights, the lodging, and everything else.
Chelsea Handler’s sister was recently divorced and she was competing with Chelsea for the guide. Ultimately, the guide ended up rejecting her. “It was the first African that rejected me,” Chelsea said. There was another mixed reaction to this and Chelsea said she didn’t mean it that way. She just meant that it was the first man in Africa to reject her.
Ellen TV: Chelsea Handler Safari
Chelsea Handler actually witnessed a lion kill something in the wild. She said that it’s a different world there and people line up for hours to see something like that. “When you see something like that, it’s like being in The Lion King. But the music is not nearly as good,” she said.
