Ellen: Ansel Elgort Entertainment Weekly
Actor Ansel Elgort came by Ellen to talk about his new movie The Fault In Our Stars, based upon the John Green young adult book of the same name. He recently appeared on the cover of Entertainment Weekly with his costar Shailene Woodley even though he’s only 20 years old. Ellen said that both stars looked very beautiful on the cover.

The trailer for The Fault In Our Stars is also the most liked video in YouTube history. “We have a really crazy fan base,” Ansel Elgort said. Ansel Elgort said that people loved the original John Green book. When he asked the audience if anyone read the book, there was a huge cheer.
“It’s about two kids who are terminally sick with cancer, but it’s not really about cancer, it’s about a beautiful love story between two people,” he said. He also said it was different because it wasn’t about a healthy person learning a lesson from a sick person. “It’s about how two people with cancer are just as important as everyone else and their love story can be just as beautiful, if not more,” Ansel Elgort said.
Ellen: Ansel Elgort Fans
He said that there’s a lot of fans of the book and Ellen showed footage of an event that Ansel Elgort and the rest of the cast did and the fans looked like they were at a One Direction concert. Ansel Elgort said they did these promotional fan events around America and wherever they went, thousands of people showed up. He said that he thought it was crazy because this book is a love story about two kids. It’s not a huge action film.

Ellen said he must’ve been used to it since he was in Divergent. He said that both movies came out within a few months of each other and it’s been insane for him. A year ago, he said he had 500 followers on social media and now he has almost 500,000. He said it’s crazy to have so much success at one time.
Ellen: Ansel Elgort Break Dancing
Ellen said that Ansel Elgort must’ve been good with the crowd, because he break danced for them. They showed the video of him dancing wildly before the crowd of thousands. He was actually incredibly talented. Ansel Elgort said he started in ballet and dance so he was trained in dancing. But he said it got crazier than he thought. He said he didn’t think any of the people in the cast knew he could do that.

Ansel Elgort also has a talent for painting miniatures. He paints images onto rocks. One of the images was of the two hands almost touching from the Sistine Chapel. Another one was a painting of a man in the 17th century waving a French flag. He said he did that over the course of 10 hours without stopping.

Ellen said they have a lot in common, because she does the same thing. She gave him an extremely tiny painting that Ellen said she did of the two of them. Ansel Elgort said he didn’t think Ellen painted it. “Oh really? I don’t know why,” Ellen said and then immediately reminded us that The Fault In Our Stars will be in theaters June 6.
