Dr. Phil: SWAT Team Called On Father
Dr. Phil talked to Matt and Mindy, a father and mother with children who are now divorced. In 2008, when they were still married, an argument about their divorce spiraled out of control, resulting in Matt barricading himself in the house with his wife and kids and two pistols, two rifles, and a shotgun. 50 police officers, including 30 of them part of a SWAT team, ultimately showed up, with shoot on sight orders for Matt. Matt called the local news to talk about it during the event, telling them, “We just had an argument. I mean, we’ve been married 12 years. It’s not like we didn’t have an argument before.”

The argument spiraled out of control when Matt started gathering the guns. Mindy reached out to the bishop at her church via text message because she was scared. The bishop called the police.
“Matt had enough weapons and ammunition to take people out that day,” Mindy said.
Dr. Phil: Domestic Violence and Terrorist Threats
“I was astounded by the police response,” Matt said. He was barricaded in his house for 4 and a half hours. He said this of the shoot to kill orders: “Mindy, through her manipulation and need for attention, almost got me killed.”
Matt was ultimately charged with Domestic Violence in the Presence of a Minor and Terrorist Threats. He ultimately spent 490 days in jail. Mindy divorced Matt while he was in jail and he claims she alienated him from their children ever since. His 17-year-old daughter refuses to speak to him, his 15-year-old son is in foster care, and when his eight-year-old daughter was dying of cancer, he was kept away.
Dr. Phil: Master Manipulator
Matt’s new wife Heidi called Mindy a “master manipulator.” Matt said, “I think she’s such a despicable person that I don’t like the idea of her still using my last name.” Mindy kept her children from going to Matt’s wedding to Heidi. Matt said that Mindy also tells their kids he doesn’t pay the child support, even though Matt said he’s always paid it from the instant he was able to.
Matt said he was on Dr. Phil to set the record straight. Heidi said she wanted help with her marriage, because Matt’s situation with Mindy has spiraled into their marriage. Mindy said that their children have needs and that he wants Matt to realize there was trauma that he caused.

Dr. Phil asked if Mindy was obstructionist when he wanted a relationship with his children. She said she wanted her children to have a father. Mindy said she did keep her children away from three years, even though there was no court order to do so. Mindy didn’t really want to answer his questions. Dr. Phil said the three of them had to be straight with him.
Heidi claims Mindy send fake Facebook messages to her pretending to be her 17-year-old daughter. Heidi said that one of Mindy’s friends confirmed that she did pretend to be her daughter over Facebook. Mindy said she didn’t write those. Heidi said the messages were sent during school hours.
So Dr. Phil got the friend on the phone to see who was lying about this, since Mindy said she didn’t write them. The friend on the phone said that Mindy told her that she sent the messages because she thought they were funny.
“I never sent these messages. If you have somebody who sat there and watched me, then I would be a liar. But I’m not,” Mindy said.
