Dr. Phil: Psychotic Phone Messages

Dr. Phil has been sitting down with a couple with a 26 year age difference. 50-year-old Dean and 24-year-old Ashley are in a combustible relationship, with a three-year-old daughter caught in the middle.

Dr. Phil played a series of voicemails Dean left, where in one he’d be nice and the next he would be mean. And when I say mean, I mean really mean. These messages were basically psychotic. Here’s a sample:

• “Please answer the phone Ashley. Please. I can’t go on without you answering the phone. Please, or I’m going to show up at your door and rip the f***** off the wall and come in there. Please talk to me.”

It’s worth noting that right before this message, he was calling her a variety of names that aren’t printable, most of which involved her supposed lack of virtue and her relationships to other men.

Dr. Phil: Is She Suicidal?

Ashley has tried to commit suicide because she was made at Dean, trying to hang herself with a phone cord. She said she did it because she didn’t know what else to do. She said she wasn’t suicidal “right now” though. But she admit that she charged him with a stool while pregnant during an OB-GYN appointment. The police arrested and held her for several hours.

Ashley has also grabbed a knife and threatened to kill herself while holding a knife against Dean’s throat.

Dr. Phil: Cycle of Abuse

She admitted to ripping Dean’s mirrors off his car and giving him three or four black eyes.

One time, when Dean threatened to kill her and wouldn’t leave her alone, she threw a glass at his face and cut open his face, leaving him with 26 stitches. She said it happened after he tried to choke her.

Dr. Phil said one time when Dean was in jail, Ashley stayed away from her daughter for 10 days. Ashley said she didn’t remember who was taking care of her. She said when she was away from her daughter, she was out with her girlfriends.

Dr. Phil asked her if she goes out for three or five days. Ashley said she’ll go out twice a week. She said if Dean is home, she’ll get up at noon or 1. But if she has their daughter, she’ll get up when she wakes up.

Dr. Phil: Abusive Boyfriend

Dr. Phil asked Dean if he threw Ashley against a wall when she was seven months pregnant. “No, I threw her off of me and she hit the wall,” he said.

“Uh-huh,” Dr. Phil said.

Dr. Phil asked Dean if he broke into Ashley’s house with a credit card. Dean said no. Dean also said he wasn’t a “drunk” when asked. He did say he’s an “alcoholic“. Dr. Phil got mad and said he didn’t want to play semantics.

Dean also threatened not to come on Dr. Phil because she wouldn’t answer his phone calls. Dean and Ashley also got into a loud screaming fight in the airport on the way. Ashley ran into the men’s bathroom screaming at him.
