Dr. Phil: Is The Husband Cheating?

Dr. Phil has been talking with a woman caught between her husband and her boyfriend. Lisa says her husband Rick is abusive and controlling and that her boyfriend treats her like a “princess“. So far, Rick has been trying to show himself to be a man hoping to make his marriage work and just wanting his wife back. But now, Lisa throws this wrench into the works: Rick may be cheating, too. Lisa claims Rick has had 20 plus affairs.

“I think she’s trying to flip the script and call me the cheater. She has a vivid imagination. If she has you in her sights, look out. Because she’s relentless and vicious in her attacks,” he said.

Dr. Phil: False Allegations Of Cheating

Lisa visited Rick at his work one time. She went straight into his boss’s office and accused him of having an affair with a female co-worker. Rick is in the military and accusations like this aren’t taken lightly.

Lisa claims that she tried to get his confession by performing an intimate act and trying to coax the information out of him while recording it with a tape recorder. Even though supposedly she recorded his confession, the investigation that was launched found the allegations to be false. Rick says that to this day, Lisa accuses him of cheating. But according to him, it’s just not true.

Dr. Phil: Marriage Counseling?

Rick denies that he’s had 20 plus affairs. But he did say he had two one night stands 15 years ago. Dr. Phil wondered why in their 26 years of marriage they never sought out marriage counseling. Because the couple has children, he said they’re role models. And right now, they’re modeling that lying, deceiving, and cheating is okay.

Rick said he’s talked to his pastor about it and his pastor said to keep working at it. Dr. Phil said that this should mean to work towards a desired outcome instead of whatever it is they’re actually doing.

Dr. Phil: Kidnapping?

Rick said that one time he saw Lisa walking to the place where her boyfriend picks her up and he told her to get into the car. She did, and he started driving. He drove for 30 miles. Lisa says he took her against her will for 40 minutes. Then Lisa finally convinced Rick to go back home so they could get something to eat. When they got back home, within five minutes, she was gone and she didn’t come back until the middle of the night.

Dr. Phil: Why Not Get A Divorce?

Upon hearing this story, Dr. Phil immediately turned to Lisa and demanded to know why she wouldn’t just get a divorce if she wanted out so badly. He said he believed in marriage, but after 26 years of being married, Lisa found someone who met her physical, emotional, and intellectual needs. Why stay with Rick then?

Lisa said that she’s never been alone and she wants to be certain of her boyfriend before she makes any decisions.
