Dr. Phil: Sincere Apologies
After a lot of back and forth between Henry and Debra, Dr. Phil tried to regain control of the situation by boiling what needs to be done down to this: Henry doesn’t need to crucify himself on national TV to make or say he’s wrong a thousand times over to make reparations with his wife. He just needs to say that he understands the negative impact that he had on his family. He can’t be sincere in his apology until her understands how they feel. Henry’s apologies thus far have been followed by defensiveness, and that needs to go out the window.
Dr. Phil: Son Thinks Parents Should Divorce
Henry’s son, Michael, believes that Henry betrayed the whole family by putting up the photos of Debra, and thinks him to have a sick mind. After all that has happened, Michael has lost all respect for Henry and doesn’t see him as a father figure. While Henry and Michael used to be best friends, the closeness actually made the betrayal that much worse, and he can’t even look in his father’s eyes anymore. Michael thinks that his mom should divorce his dad.
Michael feels that his Henry needs to own up to what he did and stop living in his own head. What hurts the worst in all of this is that he knows the divorce will happen, the family will be split, and things will never go back to the way they were.
Dr. Phil: Debra Wants To Leave Husband
When the dust settles, Debra hopes to live near somebody that she can trust and love, like her family in New Jersey. She feels far too isolated and lonely down in Florida. She doesn’t even want to be in the same state as Henry. She even got nervous when she touched down on the plane. Henry even hacked her emails, supposedly because she allowed him to. The trust that once was is just totally destroyed.
Debra says that she isn’t herself. She used to be fun, but now she cries all the time. She wants to know that there is a light at the tunnel and that she can get past the tragedy.
