Dr. Phil: Where Did The Pictures Come From?
Dr. Phil has been sitting down with Monica and Max, a couple who got scammed into thinking they were adopting twins by a woman named Danette.
Now, Dr. Phil wonders where the pictures came from. Danette said she got one of them online.

Dr. Phil wondered if this was the first time Danette scammed people on the internet. She said it was the first time. Dr. Phil said she got good at it really quick. Danette claimed that the rest of the pictures she sent were hers. Dr. Phil wondered about one of the pictures that was clearly of an Asian baby. Danette said the picture belonged to her, but it’s not her baby.
Danette said that she got pregnant at 14 and she gave it up for an adoption. It was a wonderful time for her and she got plenty of attention.
Dr. Phil: Scammer Apologizes To The Couple
Dr. Phil said that Danette needed help. “For you to select this idea, to perpetuate this idea, to put these people through this excruciating emotional pain, and to continue with it, whether you say ‘I got caught up in it’ or whatever, would you agree that that’s not healthy?” he said. She agreed.
Dr. Phil added that the fact that she can do this without remorse and say she’s angry for being held accountable means she has deep problems. Danette said that the only reason she’s mad is that they called Dr. Phil.
Danette told Monica and Max she was sorry for what she did and that she’s all the more sorry because they’re “awesome people.” She said she enjoyed her time with them and that she “appreciated their friendship a lot.”
“You didn’t have a friendship with us. You stole a friendship,” Max said. “I can’t imagine anything but evil that can generate what you did.”
Dr. Phil offered Danette some professional help, because he said he felt like she really needed it. She agreed to it.
Dr. Phil: Surprise For Couple
Dr. Phil introduced an expert in adoption, who was there to help Monica and Max learn the right path to adoption. He said that most birth mothers aren’t scammers, the vast majority of these situations have very honest birth mothers. He also apologized to Monica and Max for what happened to them. He also announced he was going to waive their fees for their adoption and help them get a child. Monica and Max tearfully accepted.
