Dr. Phil asked Mark about his childhood. He was in drug rehab because his mother didn’t want to take care of him and his father was never around. He did what he had to to protect other people from him. He felt like he was programmed to screw up.

Nikol’s past was as rocky as Mark’s. She was abused in her foster homes and tried to get pregnant to get out. Dr. Phil told her that she and Mark need to work on themselves before their marriage.
