She’s dated married men and her mother never knew. She’s used drugs, been bullied and molested. Her parents don’t monitor what she does online, so she just keeps doing it.
Dr. Phil is going to confront her and her mother on Monday February 25 2013. It’s sure to be a show for parents and kids to watch.
Dr Phil: How To Protect Kids From Pedophiles Online
We all hear warnings of what kids can get into online without proper supervision. It’s important for parents to watch what their kids are doing and to put parental controls on. Parents should have basic computer knowledge and know what social networking sites their children are members of. Don’t let your children use chat rooms and monitor what information they put on the internet. Pedophiles can frequent chat rooms and prey on unsuspecting and vulnerable kids. Dr. Phil advises parents to keep open lines of communication with their children. This way, parents can monitor their children without spying and prying into their lives.
Dr Phil says kids may reach out to others online because they don’t have communication in their home. Watch for signs like withdrawn and unusual behavior and spending a lot of time online. Kids will feel like they can trust strangers on the internet because it’s exciting and they feel it makes their life special. Never let a child give out personal information to strangers online. If a pedophile finds out where you live, it can spell trouble for you, your kids and your family.
