Dr Phil: Underage Drinking
Dr Phil’s guests were Heather and Brian. Brian said that their 15-year-old son, Brandon, died from drinking and snorting pills while in her care in 2008. Heather’s friend Bernice said that Heather’s unstable behavior continued to the present day.
Dr Phil gave Heather the chance to speak once again. “After my son died, I wanted to die with him,” she said. She then detailed the process by which she was being weaned onto Morphine to get off Oxycontin.
“It’s too much of a jump for me,” Heather said. “I did not want to go on Morphine because that’s what my son died from, because he learned it from his father to snort up his nose.”
Dr Phil: Snorting Drugs

Heather’s son Brandon died from drinking and snorting drugs. Dr Phil wondered why she could not give a straight or consistent answer about what happened.
Heather also piled on, saying that Brandon once told her that Brian and his wife accused him of stealing their Cocaine. Bernice pointed out that Heather could have refused Morphine and explained her situation to the doctor.
Heather became enraged that her friend was interrupting her. She also claimed that she told her doctor that. As for the night before the taping, Heather did not want to talk about this, and she said doctors found something new wrong with her.
Bernice said that was not true, because she was there and spoke with the doctor. “I’m done with you,” Heather declared, writing her friend off with a classic “talk to the hand” gesture.
Dr Phil: Bernice’s Intervention
Heather said that her parents warned her about Bernice long ago. “I don’t need you,” Heather said.
“I know you’re going to hate me, Heather,” Bernice said. “And I’m OK with that, because once you realize that you have a problem, once you admit that you have a problem, and once you get help, I’ll be here for you.”
Heather claimed that Bernice made her lie to get her son to come along to Los Angeles. She said she is the one who called Dr Phil for help, because Brian has been bashing her online and in their community.
Dr Phil: Was Brandon Self-Medicating?
“I was acquitted of both charges in a court of law,” Heather said. She also claimed that Brian abused Brandon, which made him depressed and caused him to self-medicate.
Dr Phil finally got a word in, adding that he does not wholly endorse Brian’s parenting. Even Brian admittedly does not wholly endorse his own parenting methods.
“What he seems to be focused on now is that you allowed your son to abuse drugs and alcohol with your fully knowledge, and you came back and left him in the back seat of the car,” Dr Phil said.
Dr Phil: Dr Cyril Wecht Indictment
“You don’t know your information like you think you do,” Heather shot back at Dr Phil, as the audience began to get riled up. She was upset that Dr Phil invited two doctors who testified against her to the show.
She seemed to go off on a tangent about an indictment against Dr Cyril Wecht, but Dr Phil did not take the bait, returning to Brian’s questions about why she left her son in the back seat, when she knew he had been drinking.
Heather maintained that she had no idea this was going on, which is not what she said earlier in the show.
