Dr Phil: Kiera’s Autopsy Report
Julia and Codey are accused of being involved in the deaths of her two children, which occurred three months apart in 2010. They deny any wrongdoing, and Dr Phil invited a forensic pathologist to analyze the autopsy reports for Darby and Kiera. What did he find when he pored over the reports?
Codey’s mother, who dressed Kiera for her funeral, claimed that no autopsy was performed and that law enforcement were working to cover something up. Forensic pathologist Dr Cyril Wecht read the detailed autopsy report and called these accusations “ludicrous, inane, [and] totally, totally illogical.”
Dr Phil: Subdural Hemorrhage Cause of Death

In the case of Kiera, forensic pathologist Dr Cyril Wecht told Dr Phil that her cause of death was a subdural hemorrhage caused by blunt force trauma.
Dr Wecht said good embalmers are able to disguise incision marks so that mourners are not traumatized or disturbed by what they see when grieving. Dr Wecht told Dr Phil that not only was an autopsy performed, but it was detailed and conclusive: “Kiera died from a subdural hemorrhage.”
He went on to say that there was more than two ounces of blood in a portion of her head near the brain, caused by significant trauma. The story in the report is that Kiera fell on her buttocks in the bathroom when Codey unintentionally pulled a towel out from under her.
Dr Wecht said that there is no way the Subdural Hemorrhage could have occurred under these circumstances. He also noted that, like with Darby, Kiera had multiple contusions and abrasions on her face and hemorrhages of multiple ages.
Dr Phil: Blunt Force Trauma To The Head
“You have a child dead as a result of blunt force trauma…to the head. Someone has to explain, how did that head injury occur?” Dr Wecht said. Something would have had to directly hit Kiera in the head, or her head would have had to strike something with serious impact to cause this injury.
“This is a highly suspicious case, and there’s no way in the world a vaccine produces a subdural hemorrhage,” Dr Wecht said. The deaths, which occurred 82 days apart, have not been explained to Dr Wecht’s satisfaction.
Dr Phil also asked Dr Wecht about lesions on her calf. “They are strongly suggestive of thermal injuries,” he said, which could possibly have been caused by cigarette burns and would be unlikely to be accidental.
Dr Phil: Who Abused Kiera & Darby?
“I just wish that I was wrong,” an emotional Tommy said in reaction to Dr Wecht’s statements, which supported his claims that Julia and Codey were involved in the children’s deaths.
Julia insisted that there was no abuse in the family’s household. She shook her head, cried, and didn’t seem to take in or accept any of the expert information that was being presented.
“Do you want to know what happened?” Dr Phil asked Julia. She seemed uncertain.
