Hallie wrote in about her sister, Crystal, who is obsessed with men and forgets her kids. Dr Phil said when a mother neglects children, it’s a crime.
Dr Phil: Mother Chases Men, Neglects Children
Hallie wrote in to Dr Phil in hopes of getting her sister, Crystal, help. Crystal has been chasing her ex-boyfriend so fiercely that it has become her only waking thought. She sleeps with her phone under her pillow in case he calls. She’s lost her job and is about to lose her home if she doesn’t shape up.
Crystal is not only hurting herself, but she’s neglecting her two daughters. Hallie wrote to Dr Phil that Hallie’s daughters are continuously coming in second place. Crystal told Dr Phil she knows this isn’t right and that she should be putting her life and her daughter’s lives ahead of everything else.
Dr Phil: Neglecting Children Is A Crime
Dr Phil told Crystal that she is not in a good financial place. Crystal is getting evicted from her apartment this week. She needs to stop chasing a man and support her family. He told her that neglect is a crime. Hallie said that her sister rationalizes that the neglect isn’t really that bad. The show contacted Crystal’s ex, but he said he doesn’t have time for her or their relationship.
Dr Phil basically told Crystal to grow up. She needs to wake up and take pride in herself. He worries that her children are at risk, especially because children who live with a non-biological man in their home, unmarried, are 33 times more likely to be abused than the normal abuse rate.
Crystal was inconsolable. She sobbed in front of Dr Phil and it’s not clear if it was because she was dumped again or because she was angry at herself for neglecting her kids. Let’s all hope it’s the latter.
