Dr Phil: Lane Agrees to Go to Rehab for Heroin Addiction
Dr Phil met with Lane when she was at her lowest point. Lane was a single mom, struggling with an addiction to heroin. Her family thought she was neglecting her son and didn’t like the path her life was taking. They went to Dr Phil, whio set Lane up with the Safe Harbor Treatment Center for Women in Costa Mesa, California.
After a year in treatment, Lane came back to see Dr Phil with her father. She said the treatment she received was phenomenal. Lane went through three weeks of harsh detox and withdrawal before feeling better. Her family came to visit her and she was able to join in the groups that Safe Harbor offers.
The detox was a hard process, but Lane did not want to go through a medical detox. She wanted to remember how badly she felt during that time so that she didn’t go back to her drug abusing ways.
Mark, Lane’s father told Drew, Dallas, and their family that it’s important to take advantage of all of the resourcesthey are being offered. He knew that their family was broken, not just his daughter. That’s why he had to step up and work things out, for her sake and the sake of his grandson. Mark now has custody of Lane’s son.

Lane has been clean and sober for nine months. She said that her next hurdle to jump is plugging herself back into her son’s life. She has her priorities in order and knows that she can never give up the battle against the disease that is drug addiction.
Dr Phil said that he and his wife are strong believers in court-appointed guardians. Not every foster care experience is bad, but Lane doesn’t want her son in foster care. Mark said they are getting to a place where Lane can be a strong presence in her son’s life. By setting a good example, being there, and taking advantage of every opportunity is how she can get back into her son’s life.
