Dr Phil: Sierra’s Addictions
Sierra has been seeing older men online for years and her parents only recently found out. They’ve tried to cut her off, but she is still contacting men twice her age on her phone. Sierra feels like she has no worth and gets a sense of self-worth from these strange men who abuse and use her. Terri, Sierra’s mom, doesn’t know how she missed these problems her daughter was having and wants to fix their relationship.
Dr Phil: Inpatient vs Outpatient Therapy

Dr Phil is sending Sierra to the Island View center in Syracuse, Utah to get mental and emotional counseling.
Dr. Phil believes that there are good people in Sierra’s family, they are just in over their heads. They’ve received horrible counseling and advice from therapists that only enabled their daughter to have relationships. When her parents threatened to take her phone away, Sierra said she would kill herself.
Dr. Phil said that when one of his patients would threaten to hurt themselves, he would immediately put them in the hospital. He did not joke around with threats. He wanted to put Sierra in an inpatient care facility for her addictions and self-worth problems.
Dr Phil: Island View Center
The Island View center in Syracuse, Utah is a place where Sierra can go and focus on herself. She said she has never had the chance to be selfish and has never put herself first. Island View focuses on healthy futures for teens and parents. Teens can get an education and work on college prep while doing diverse recreation activities and having exclusive therapy and mental health care. Island View will help Sierra have a better, happier and productive life.
Dr. Phil hopes that this will help her parents become better at parenting and Sierra will beat her addictions and overcome her need to reach out to men online.
