Dr Phil met with serial cheater Shawn and his distressed wife, Emerald. She wanted to know what her options were, and Dr Phil was afraid that Shawn was one of the people he calls Baiters.
Dr Phil: Cheater’s Secret Love Child
Emerald recently found a secret phone belonging to her husband that had pictures of another woman and her child. She suspected that the child was fathered by her husband, and figured out she and this other woman were pregnant at the same time.
Shawn said that he ignored his commitments to marriage and family and just did what he wanted to do. He made some false promises to win his wife over, but he admitted that he has continued to see the other woman.

Emerald wanted to know if there was anything her husband could do to get help for his serial cheating. She also wanted to know what her options were for an exit plan.
Dr Phil said that Shawn could get help, but he did not seem motivated to do so. Dr Phil mentioned his latest book, Life Code, saying that you have to recognize and avoid the people who are out to hurt you.

Dr Phil said that the people you have to watch out for are Baiters, which is an acronym.

These could be people in your personal or professional life, but Dr Phil said the important key is not letting yourself be a victim anymore.
Dr Phil: Pregnant Wife & Cheating Husband
Dr Phil got Shawn to reluctantly admit that he met the criteria and definition of a baiter. Emerald revealed that she is currently pregnant. Dr Phil asked her how many more affairs he might have over the years if he keeps up, which could easily be over 100.
Shawn and Emerald disagreed about whether he uses protection in his trysts with other women. The more Emerald revealed about what she knows about his relationships, the more I wondered why this lady puts up with him.
Dr Phil: Shotgun Wedding?
Shawn tried to claim he was forced into a marriage he did not want. “We wouldn’t be together if she wouldn’t have got pregnant with my twins,” he said.
Dr Phil just put his head down. Emerald said Shawn keeps telling her he is going to change his behavior, but she does not believe it.
Dr Phil: Serial Cheater Therapy
He suddenly had a change of heart and said he knows he needs help to change his behavior. I am reluctant to believe him, which makes me think that I might not be an effective therapist.
But there was a twist that Dr Phil had yet to reveal. Emerald made a home video of the couple’s 10-year-old twins discussing their father’s extramarital activities. Dr Phil made it clear that his show did not facilitate the exchange.
