Carrie has brought her 61-year-old mother to Dr Phil to knock some sense into her. Paula has been meeting men on Plenty of Fish, a dating and meet-up website. She said she has been hooking up with men on the weekends and creating “friends with benefits” relationships.
Paula has a thing for younger men and hooks up with them on Plenty of Fish.
Paula told Dr Phil that she enjoys meeting up with men 20 years or more younger than her. She has a stamina for physical activity that older men just can’t keep up with. She likes to invite the men back to her home because she feels safer there. Red flags are flying all over this situation.

Carrie wishes her mother would act more age appropriately. She believes the youngest man she could date is 40. Paula had relations with a 19-year-old boy once and the situation has haunted Carrie. Paula isn’t afraid to give her daughter details.
Carrie is afraid that her mother will get hurt, physically or emotionally. While Paula thinks she’s being safe, Dr Phil said that letting strange men into her home makes her very vulnerable. It may feel safe, but these are men she’s only met once or twice. She doesn’t know them and she’s bringing them into her home.

Dealing with strangers a lot of the time, Troy Dunn was able to give Paula a safety instruction. He agreed that bringing them to her home is not a safe decision. They could come to her home anytime and she would be vulnerable.
Dr Phil told Paula that she is not going to find a long term relationship doing what she is doing. He said that as the age difference gets wider, the chances for compatibility fall. He wants her to start thinking safer about things, because people get killed everyday.
