Richard shared that he would eat fast food three times a day and now is eating five smaller meals of much healthier food. He also found a passion for bicycling and rides 200-300 miles a week. Richard said he included fiber in his meals which kept him fuller longer by aiming for 30 grams a day.
He uses high flax wraps instead of white bread for a lunch, and for dinner he would often use high fiber taco shells for his fish tacos, and he would have black beans and brown rice on the side. For snacks, he found a recipe for apple chips which he makes himself to satisfy his potato chip craving. He would also make kale chips with barbecue seasoning on them.
He also shared that in the beginning he replaced his soda and energy drinks with seltzer water with fruit in it and now he drinks over a gallon of water every day.
Dr Oz: Woman Lost 160 Pounds
Dr. Oz’s next weight loss hero was Dee, a mother who used to weigh 318 pounds. Dee said she’s been called thick and stocky and her parents used to measure her thighs and even got a gym membership for Christmas one year. She said that no matter what happened, she continued to be in denial about how big she was. She was so embarrassed one time when a flight attendant had to call out over the intercom for a seat belt extender for her and then another time she had to get off a ride because she couldn’t fit in the seat. She felt like she was missing out on her own daughter’s life and knew she had to make a change.
She started eating healthy and exercising every day and has lost 160 pounds. Dee walked out to show off her new body and she looked absolutely amazing!
Dr Oz: Sweeten Protein To Satisfy Cravings
Dee explained that in order to lose the weight she had to cut out white sugar, white rice, and white pasta. She cleaned out her pantry but her sweet tooth did not go away so she started using Stevia, apple pie spice, pumpkin spice, and cinnamon. She knew she had to make protein sweet to satisfy her sweet tooth and would oftentimes go through fast food drive-thrus and get cinnamon rolls. To compensate, she discovered egg whites that were full of protein, and would microwave about 3/4 C egg whites and then add cinnamon and Stevia. She said it tastes like rice pudding.
Another secret Dee used is taking Greek yogurt, Stevia, and powdered peanut butter to make a healthier peanut butter pudding. She said she can do things now she never could do before and now she’s on the beach and at the playground with her daughter. She said she was always on the sidelines and behind the camera but now she’s in the pictures making memories.
