Dr Oz: Are You A Member Of Oz Nation?
Dr Oz shared that he was going to hand his show over to his “Oz Nation” health heroes for the next month. Dr Oz said you can tell you are a member of Oz Nation if you were eating kale before kale was cool, you have a PhD in poop, and friends and family members often say to you “let me guess, you heard it on Dr Oz!”
Dr Oz: Weight Loss After Breast Cancer
Dr Oz recently got an email from a fan who said she constantly watches his show and takes notes. She said there was one particular show where he talked about breast cancer and being overweight. At the time, she was 50 pounds overweight and knew that breast cancer ran in her family. She was eventually diagnosed with breast cancer and after her surgery, her doctors told her that if she didn’t lose weight, her odds of surviving would go down a lot.
She set a goal of 100 days to change her life and pulled out her notebook to follow Dr Oz’s suggestions to lose weight. She ended up losing 35 pounds and went from a size 12 to a size 6. She now tells everyone who will listen what to do and what to eat to change their lives as well. She’s also inspired her daughter and her husband to eat healthy.
Dr Oz: “In Remission & On a Mission”
Her name is Natalie and Dr Oz proudly welcomed her to his show. Natalie shared that she saw a segment right before her surgery about the correlation between obesity and breast cancer, and she was overweight. Natalie started her own organization because she wants to expand the message. She said women also have to help themselves by losing weight.
Everywhere she goes, she starts by telling people that Dr Oz is who inspired her. Dr Oz shared that if you lose just five or 10 pounds, especially after menopause, you reduce your breast cancer risk by up to 20%. Natalie is now in remission and Dr Oz said she’s “in remission and on a mission.”
Dr Oz: Breakfast Smoothie & Strawberry Water
Natalie shared that she lost the weight by starting her day with a smoothie that includes kale and spinach, switching up the days she includes the greens. She said she does kale about three times a week, and Dr Oz explained that sometimes kale can slow down your thyroid a bit.
In the middle of the day, to suppress her appetite, she swears by strawberry water. She uses green tea as her base rather than just plain water. She also adds cinnamon, which helps with blood sugar. She shared that when she started incorporating these things into her husband’s diet, he went from needing blood sugar medication to being completely off it.
