Dr Oz: Loni Love’s Detox
Dr Oz welcomed a woman he described as one of his favorite people on the plant: Loni Love. The co-host of The Real sat down with Dr Oz to talk about how she managed to survive a detox. Fortunately for all of us, Loni shared updates on Twitter throughout her ordeal, which meant plenty of entertainment for us.
Loni admitted that it was actually a wonderful journey. She was feeling sluggish and wasn’t feeling like herself, so she decided to challenge herself and do something different. She joked that her relationship with food was like a relationship with a man: she was taken advantage of it and needed to do something about it, so she went on a detox.
Dr Oz: How Loni Love Lost Weight
Loni shared that she’s always loved the taste of food, but she no longer lives to eat, but now eats to live. But what was it that finally motivated Loni to change her habits? Loni shared that she was on an airplane when a flight attendant approached her with a seat belt extender. It was actually for the man next to her, but because together they could barely fit, she knew it was time for a change. She has since lost 15 pounds and one dress size.
So how exactly did Loni detox?
Dr Oz: Loni Love Detox & Weight Loss Plan
Dr Oz nicknamed Loni’s plan The Loni Detox, and wanted to share the details of it to help motivate and inspire other women who may have found themselves in Loni’s position and in need of a healthy change.
For the first four days you eat only raw fruits and vegetables, while drinking as much water as you can throughout the day. Only drink water but add some fruit to it if you need some added flavor. Then on the fifth day, you can enjoy a “cheat day” during which you eat a lot of protein. It’s not the kind of cheat day you may be used to, but it allows you to eat more than just fruits and vegetables.
Dr Oz: Tips For Surviving A Detox
Dr Oz shared a few of Loni’s tweets from during her detox and laughed at the number of times she mentioned bacon. With cravings like that, how was Loni able to stay strong and not give in? Loni explained that she couldn’t ask her girlfriends to do the detox with her or they’d be at each other’s throats. Instead, she found support online from people who truly encouraged her.
She also kept a detox diary where she wrote down everything she was feeling. She also found that it helped her tremendously to keep her brain busy, which is why she started to read a book.
Loni also suggested that when you first try a detox, you give yourself a couple days to develop new habits and break old ones. Also, don’t guilt-trip other people for eating foods you gave up. The reality is that you can have those foods, just not right now!
