Dr Oz introduced a very good friend of his, the woman known as Canada’s Oprah: Marilyn Denis. Marilyn Denis is Canada’s most popular television host. She’s always been a trailblazer, ever since studying radio and television at the University of Idaho. Marilyn then moved to Canada and first made her mark on radio before becoming a freelance TV reporter. Her charm and quick wit landed her a show of her own. The Marilyn Denis Show offers entertainment, lifestyle, fashion, food, and fitness. Her show also features a slew of celebrity guests, including Dr Oz himself.
Dr Oz: How Marilyn Denis Got Healthy & Lost Weight
Dr Oz wanted everyone to know who Marilyn is, and first asked her why she believes she became so successful. Marilyn explained that she loves what she does, and has always been a good communicator. But because Marilyn is so busy, she realized she wasn’t taking good care of her body and her health. She went into the new year and saw a doctor about her body and her weight. She wanted to know what she could do to lose weight and keep it off.
She began logging everything she ate, sticking to 1300 calories a day. Now, she has an overall feeling of wellness, after having lost 30 pounds. Feeling better was more motivational than anything for Marilyn.
Dr Oz: Marilyn Denis Weight Loss Plan
Marilyn’s biggest secret is drinking a glass of lukewarm water with lemon first thing in the morning. Marilyn explained that at 3:30 or 3:45 in the morning, the first thing she wants in her body is water, not coffee just yet. She believes the water is soothing and good for her gut. Fortunately, it can also help with morning breath!
Marilyn then drinks a protein shake for breakfast and for lunch, to fill her up and give her protein. She likes to satisfy her cravings with crunchy food so she likes to enjoy rice crackers with a little cheese or almond butter. And then for dinner, she eats chicken, avocado, tomato, asparagus, and applesauce, and then the kitchen is closed at 6:00. That means she’s fasting for 12 hours every night.
Dr Oz: How Intermittent Fasting Can Help You Lose Weight
Dr Oz then explained how scientists figured out how when we eat affects how we lose weight. If you 13 to 15 hours without eating, say overnight, and eat the rest of your calories within a short period of time, it’s called intermittent fasting. It’s been shown to help you lose weight much more effectively than if you were to eat over a period of 15 hours or so during the day. That’s why all of us should try to follow a 12-hour fast every night. You may be surprised by how the weight just seems to fall off, despite eating the same number of calories.
