Monica was in the studio audience, and she said she can’t get her carb cravings under control. She feels like she’s constantly eating, and carbs are what makes her happy. Dr Oz shared some other ideas to help her (and maybe you) with this problem.
Dr Oz: Dopamine Fights Cravings
Some favorite spicy dishes contain Dopamine, which is your brain’s happy hormone. It floods your brain with good feelings. Dopamine in your spicy meals can fill you up and make you feel happier. Suggestions include Hot Sauce and Jalapeno Peppers, which you can add to your meals.
Dr Oz: Chicken Chili Recipe
Ever wonder why everyone collapses for naptime after Thanksgiving dinner? Poultry, such as Turkey or Chicken, contains Tryptophan, which is a great stress reliever when combined with some carbs. Now you can get it in Dr Oz’s Chicken Chili Recipe
Dr Oz suggested getting it in meals like Salmon with Quinoa or Eggs and Wheat Toast, which will also give you a Serotonin boost.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Chicken Breast, cubed
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- ¾ cup Onions, chopped
- ½ teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1 can Mexican Style Stewed Tomatoes
- 1 Green Pepper, chopped,
- 1 cup Chicken Broth
- 1 ¾ cup Instant Brown Rice
- ½ cup Cheddar Cheese, shredded
- Hot Pepper Sauce
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350.
- In a pan or skillet, cook chicken in oil until brown on each side, roughly two minutes. Remove chicken and set aside.
- Add Onion, Pepper & Garlic Powder to skillet, cooking until vegetables are tender.
- Drain fat. Add Tomatoes, Broth, Rice, and Hot Pepper Sauce, to taste.
- Bring to a boil; then remove from heat.
- Spoon the vegetable & rice mixture into a prepared baking dish.
- Add Chicken on top of rice.
- Bake uncovered for about 30 minutes.
- Sprinkle cheese on top and return to oven until cheese melts.
Doctor Oz: Kale Chips Recipe
Sugar in your body can cause all kinds of reactions, such as mood swings. That’s why it’s important to try to keep your sugar in check, so you can maintain control of your energy levels.
One way to achieve this is by choosing foods and snacks that have healthy fats and high fiber, such as Pumpkin Seeds or Garbanzo Beans. You can also try making your own Kale Chips.
Ingredients
- 1 bunch Kale
- 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
- Sea Salt & Cumin (optional; to taste)
Directions
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Prepare, rinse & dry Kale Leaves.
- Sprinkle seasonings, if desired.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, until browned. Don’t let them burn!
