Dr Oz: Holiday Health Gifts
Dr. Oz rode in on a sleigh to kick off today’s show, featuring his 12 Days of Christmas and hot holiday health gifts “to help you look younger, feel better, and get healthier in 2012.” He also announced that he’ll be giving away nearly 10,000 gifts to home viewers.
Based on the classic Christmas carol, Dr. Oz has come up with 12 great gifts with health and wellness in mind. In addition to sharing them with the studio audience, he also gave home viewers a chance to receive free gifts through his website.
Dr Oz Vitamix Blender Giveaway
Dr. Oz said, “If you get five to six servings of fruits and vegetables a day, as part of a balanced lifestyle that includes low calorie, high fiber protein diet, you could lose about 17 pounds per year.”
Dr. Oz suggests cooking them in a Vitamix Blender, which he called a chef’s secret weapon for speed and vitality. He said the blender is worth about $500, and it can be used to make a new soup. You can click here to purchase the blender.
Dr Oz: Belly Blasting New Year’s Soup Recipe
2 cups veggie broth
1 can fire roasted tomatoes
1 can chickpeas
2 cloves garlic
1 tbsp. chili powder
1/2 cup chopped cilantro
1/4 cup lime juice
To make the soup, Dr. Oz started with the broth in the blender. He added the tomatoes, chickpeas, garlic, and chili powder before blending the mixture. Then he said to pour it into a bowl, adding the cilantro and squeezing fresh lime juice over the soup.
Audience members sampled the soup and said it was very good. If it’s that easy to make, I’ll have to try it in my blender.
Chickpeas are high in fiber, which Dr. Oz said will make you feel full longer. The chili powder has capsaicin, which stimulates the metabolism.
Dr Oz Gel Pillow
Audience member Kelly said she doesn’t get enough sleep, because hot flashes often wake her up. She estimates that she sleeps about six hours, though she knows she should sleep seven to eight hours each night. Dr. Oz had a gift that he thought would help Kelly sleep better and longer.
