Dr. Oz brought up the recent medical issues that Vince dealt with, including a medically-induced coma. He shared with Dr. Oz that he had a pulmonary embolism, which runs in his family. Tamar shared that he actually had seven at the same time: four in his chest and three in his legs. Vince changed his flying habits, getting up and walking around every hour. They also found out that he has lupus anticoagulant so he has to take blood thinners for the rest of his life.
Dr. Oz explained that weight is often a complicating factor and asked Vince if he’d “made any headway there.” Vince shared that he had lost 60 pounds! Tamar said she’s very proud of him because he did it himself, and they had been talking about it for a while. He managed to get out of the coma and the hospital and lose the weight. Tamar calls the health scare the defining factor of their marriage.
Dr Oz: Is Tamar Braxton Bleaching Her Skin? + What Is Vitiligo?
Dr. Oz wanted to know if Tamar ever thought that her anger and frustration was affecting her health and she said, “Absolutely not!” She said all couples argue and she feels like she’s just like most women who aren’t afraid to voice their opinions. She said she just looks like she’s overpowering because of how quiet Vince is.
Dr. Oz then wanted to give Tamar the opportunity to address the rumors that she is bleaching her skin. She said it irritates her so bad because ever since she was a little girl she’s dealt with vitiligo and she used to sit on her hands because of how embarrassed she was. She said she tans and wears a lot of makeup and wigs, but certainly doesn’t bleach her skin. Dr. Oz explained that vitiligo is when the immune cells destroy the pigment making cells. There are a lot of things you can do, including lasers and chemicals.
Dr Oz: Tamar Braxton & Vince Herbert Son
Tamar then talked about her son who is now 16 months old. Tamar said they were told they couldn’t have a baby, so they used IVF and “had four Popsicle babies,” but then she ended up getting pregnant on her own out of the blue. She shared that both of her Fallopian tubes are completely blocked so it’s a miracle they were able to conceive their son. Vince calls their son their biggest accomplishment because he’s talking, walking, and “is just a great, great kid.”
Dr Oz: What Does The Shade Mean?
Dr. Oz then said that although he loves to teach on his show, he wanted to turn it around and learn this time. He said Tamar seems to have a language all her own so he wanted to give her some “Tamar-isms” and have her explain what they mean. The first one was “get your life” and Tamar explained that it means “get it together.” Next, Dr. Oz wanted to know what “the shade” meant. Tamar said it’s when someone says something about you, not in a positive way. Finally, “she, me, her” is when Tamar is talking about herself.
