But if this product is so great, why are major companies shying away from it? The reason has to do with the way some manufacturers harvest it.
Dr Oz: Red Palm Oil Health Benefits
Dr Oz and Bryce Wylde reviewed some of the health benefits from Red Palm Oil. Carotene, which gives it a vibrant orange hue, has benefits for the brain and skin.
Tocotrienols are a form of Vitamin E that lower cholesterol and protect the heart. They are believed to even prevent and treat Strokes.
Dr Oz and Bryce showed how plaque can build up in the body but is easily flushed away by Red Palm Oil. That brings us back to the question of why this product is controversial.
Dr Oz: Red Palm Oil Deforestation
Dr Oz said that chimpanzee activist Jane Goodall reached out to him to warn about the effects Red Palm Oil production is having on deforestation.
Bryce Wylde went to Malaysia to see conditions for himself. The good news there is that it is one country that seems to have found a way to produce these products while still preserving the natural wildlife. That makes it a win-win situation for everyone.
Dr Oz: RSPO Seal for Red Palm Oil
Malaysia is a positive example, but some other countries are under scrutiny for their practices, which are believed to be destroying forests and displacing wild animals.
The industry has responded with the Roundtable for Sustainable Palm Oil, and products adhering to their sustainable production standards carry the RSPO seal, which you can look for when shopping for Red Palm Oil.
It is funny they left out the continent of origin which is Africa. Red palm oil has been used in Africa for thousands of years, if you can get the authentic red palm oil from Aftican Villages where it is unrefined and it naturally grows in the forrest, it will be a win win situation. Let’s not forget this originates from Africa before Asia got hold of it and started reproducing it. Am glad they did a recap about the deforestation issue but please include Africa in the plug :). Thank you for sharing :).
