As Dr Oz said, when Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss married producer Todd Tucker last spring, the pictures were splashed across entertainment news outlets. They had their marriage struggles laid out for the world to see while in front of the camera, and now they wanted to reveal the details of their personal struggles and new challenges to Dr Oz.

Kandi’s mother strongly disapproves of their marriage and even after the wedding, the newlyweds faced challenges of blending their families. They also had to endure a long-distance relationship because of Todd’s constant travel. A year into their marriage, they say their relationship is stronger than ever, and they’re ready to start a family together. The couple is now facing infertility and they’re ready to talk to Dr Oz about it.

Kandi and Todd joined Dr Oz, and Kandi said the first year of marriage was certainly an adjustment period, but they could have kept some things to themselves. She said they were a little too open at times, but Todd said he’s run into people who say that watching them has helped them learn. Todd said his wife has become more sensitive.

Kandi then shared that her mom has gotten a lot better, and Todd agreed that they’re working on things. He said when they have a baby, it will bring their families together. Kandi shared that they agreed to not go more than two weeks without being together. At one point in the show, Kandi was quoted as saying that she felt like her husband was cheating. She said the long-distance relationship was new to her and she felt like every time he came home, they were supposed to be intimate. She said they both work so much that sometimes they’re just tired at the end of the day and it doesn’t happen.

Dr Oz then wanted to know more about Kandi’s infertility issues. She explained that over the years she’s had issues with her fibroids and has had multiple surgeries to remove them. But she was recently told she had some scar tissue from her last surgery and it’s possible that’s why she’s unable to get pregnant.

Todd said it’s hard because he knows his wife is struggling. Kandi said she’s focusing most on the solution, so they’ve been meeting with fertility specialists and even underwent another surgery to remove the scar tissue. She said they’re in the “next phase” of trying to get pregnant. As for being in front of the camera, Todd said before he never would have been okay with it, but now he sees it as part of his life. He said people know that they’re seeing their real story and who they truly are, which they can relate to.
