Dr Oz: Daphne Oz & Granddaughter Philo
Dr Oz wanted to introduce his audience to someone who has taught him the most in the past year. She was on the show to share how “small steps can lead to great strides” and to celebrate her first birthday with her mom Daphne. Dr Oz shared that he had a peanut butter and jelly cake for little Philo because those are her initials.

Dr Oz asked Daphne what’s been the most rewarding thing and she said she has loved seeing Dr Oz and his wife be grandparents for little Philo. Daphne said you don’t know what love is until you have a child. Daphne said the hardest thing for her was re-learning how to be herself after having a baby, because you’re a better version of yourself.

She said you have to learn how to make time for things that matter and not feel guilty when you take time for yourself. She said you have to take the time to do things that make you feel good strong and powerful. Philo made herself comfortable on the couch while Daphne and Dr Oz talked. So cute!
Daphne said the first few months are terrifying because you’re so scared. She said then all of the sudden they recognize you and one month after the next the child is learning something new, whether it’s laughing or crawling.
Dr Oz: Gifts For Granddaughter Philomena
Dr Oz then got Philo some gifts, starting with knee pads, because of her ability to embrace challenges. He said Philo has no hesitation at all when it comes to climbing steps and he thinks we all need to be like her in that she isn’t afraid to fail.
Next, Dr Oz gave her a mirror to remind her to smile and be happy. Dr Oz said to look at a mirror and force yourself to smile in it. Finally he shared that Philo hasn’t walked yet, so he got her an exercise saucer so that she could learn to walk. Dr Oz tried to get her to walk while he held her hands, but she just wanted to crawl. He then put her in the exer-saucer before surprising Daphne with a cake from Jacques Torres to celebrate her own birthday.
