Dr. Oz: Three R’s to Stop Cravings
Dr. Oz invited registered dietician Ashely Koff on to the show to talk about the 3 R’s to stop cravings. The three R’s are as follows:
- Reduce the intake of artificial sweeteners
- Replace with natural sweeteners

Koff said to try and reduce the intake of artificial sweeteners down to one packet each day. She said no matter how many cups of coffee or other products you may put artificial sweetener in each day, reducing the number to one throughout the day is a big step forward.
Dr Oz: Stevia Review

Dr. Oz invited Ashley Koff on to the show to talk about the 3 R’s to stop cravings: reducing, replacing and renewing.
Koff said next, people are going to want to replace the artificial sweeteners with natural sweeteners. And her recommendation was the natural sweetener Stevia. She said Stevia is still low in calories and can be used in cooking or simply added to a drink. Koff did caution that when looking to buy Stevia, the only ingredients on the label must be Stevia. If anything else is on the label, it may not be good for your health.
Dr. Oz elaborated on her statement, saying as long as the box says organic Stevia or Stevia leaf, it is still Stevia. And Dr. Oz doesn’t even need to read the label because he grows some in his back yard.
Koff said Stevia is great for a number of other reasons. It comes in different forms such as in a liquid or a powder, making it a versatile cooking ingredient. And second, the little packets can be placed in a purse and carried anywhere, so you never have to leave home without them. Koff said portion sizes are important, noting people should stick to four or less packets each day.
Raw Buckwheat Honey Review: Kick the Habit & Renew Taste Buds
The idea of renewing the taste buds is getting the body back to feeling good. Some people have such warped taste buds, they do not even think an apple is sweet. Koff said people need to get back to using natural ingredients and letting the body eat what it is meant to eat, food from nature.
And her solution to getting taste buds back on track? Raw Buckwheat Honey. This honey, which looks very dark and thick, will give you the calories you need for your body to convert energy, something you may not be getting from artificial sweeteners.
Koff said the honey can be found in almost any supermarket and a $5 bottle should last about one year depending on usage of the honey.
It looks like it tastes good. Has any one ever tried it? Is it really a good substitute? I mean, you can’t really beat it for the price and quantity.
